Using AI as a Creative Assistant

4th June, 2025

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere in 2025 – from search engine updates to website content, customer service, and more. But while the hype around AI continues to grow, it’s important to ground our expectations. At Tidy Design, we view AI as an assistant, not a replacement.

Using AI as a Creative Assistant

We’ve experimented with many different AI’s, varying from Luma AI, GPT and Elevenlabs. When used thoughtfully, AI can help speed up creative workflows, streamline repetitive tasks, and offer useful insights. However… it is unlikely to deliver a complete solution straight out of the box. More often than not, AI tools will get you about 60-70% of the way there, and the rest depends on human input, context, and creativity.

Approach AI with the Right Mindset

Think of AI as a tool to help support and refine your work, rather than a silver bullet that solves all your problems in one click. The best results come when you break your goals down into smaller, manageable steps. Vague prompts or overly broad ideas often lead to frustration or flat results. Here’s an old but relevant saying linked to software, IT and web development:

“Rubbish in, rubbish out”

For businesses exploring AI for the first time, it’s wise to take a step back and define exactly what you want help with. Writing a blog post? Try generating a rough structure or introduction. Creating website copy? Let AI offer a few variations you can tweak and build on. A collaborative approach will deliver the best results.

It’s also worth noting that not every task is a good fit for AI. And not every AI output will be useable straight away. AI just gives us a bit of a head start.

Curious about using AI

At Tidy Design, we’ve been exploring how tools like ChatGPT and image generation models can support our workflow. From ideas and research to visuals and content, we’re embracing AI while keeping the human touch at the core of what we do. If you’re curious about using AI to support your business, please get in touch. We’d be happy to chat through your ideas.

Until next time, keep it Tidy!
