Last week was half-term, so I decided to take my two boys to Bournemouth for a few days. The purpose of the trip was simple: rest and relaxation. Tidy Design has had a very busy start to 2026, and some time away felt necessary to recharge and reflect.
Looking back at nearly two decades in business, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. Children are a constant and very visual reminder of time – they grow up so quickly! Perhaps this feels more noticeable because I co-parent, and time apart can sometimes make everything seem to move faster.
It was refreshing to step away from the demands and pressures of running a business and focus fully on them.
I believe building strong memories and a genuine bond with your children is important for every parent. That doesn’t mean expensive holidays or endless gifts – often, just being present is enough. We’re all guilty at times of being distracted by our phones, work pressures, or life’s challenges. With so much expectation placed on us to do more, be more and juggle multiple responsibilities, pressing pause occasionally has never felt more important.
Parenting and business aren’t easy, but both are choices I’m grateful for. If you’re finding the “work-life” balance difficult at times, just remember – you’re doing better than you think.
