Whats all this about .eco domains?? One of the consortiums preparing a bid to control .eco, as it is known, has published a 17-page analysis of a rival group's plan challenging its viability. Dot Eco, a consortium backed by former US vice president Al Gore, describes a plan by its main competitor - Canadian green group Big Room - as "unworkable". Big Room has said:
"We're releasing this open examination because we're tired of Big Room's leaders mischaracterising our efforts and making exaggerations about their own plan, which after careful analysis proves to be unworkable," Fred Krueger, founder of Dot Eco, said in a statement. Both groups are hoping to win the right to sell .eco "top-level domain names", which are similar to .com or .uk. Read more

The end of another busy week! Lots of work to get completed over the weekend so it is not over just yet! We have had thumbs up to a few new web projects which is great news! We are now working overtime to get everything completed ahead of schedule! Also, today on the BBC website...
'A "massively co-ordinated" attack on websites including Google, Facebook and Twitter was directed at one individual, it has been confirmed. Facebook told BBC News that the strike was aimed at a pro-Georgian blogger known as Cyxymu. The attack caused a blackout of Twitter for around two hours, while Facebook said its service had been "degraded". Google said it had defended its sites and was now working with the other companies to investigate the attack.'
"[The] attack appears to be directed at an individual who has a presence on a number of sites, rather than the sites themselves," a Facebook spokesman told BBC News. "Specifically, the person is an activist blogger and a botnet was directed to request his pages at such a rate that it impacted service for other users." You can find out more on the BBC website, please click here
Thursday 6th August 2009:
The campaign to kill Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) gathered steam this week when a California site builder led nearly 40 Web start-ups to urge their users to ditch Microsoft's eight-year-old browser. Microsoft acknowledged it's pushing IE6 users to upgrade to the newer IE8, but again promised it would support the creaky browser until April 2014.
Wednesday 5th August 2009:
All systems go here, it has been a busy week since our last news report! Have you been following us on twitter?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8174763.stm Yahoo and Microsoft look set to join forces to compete with their principal competitor Google. Microsoft's Steve Ballmer said the agreement will improve search facilities, will broaden consumer choice, and will produce better value for advertisers. The partnership will result in a market share in the US search ad market of approximately 30%, whilst Google still holds about 60%. What does this ultimately mean for us? Well this means that our sites will be susceptible to more online coverage! Thus broadening the means for people to find your site!
Monday 27th July 2009:
Tidy Design Portsmouth hiring an apprentice!! We received an email two weeks ago from a local guy who sounded very interested in web design and our business. With school almost over and the summer months upon him we have been thinking how both parties could benefit from each others time, experience and enthusiasm! Tomorrow we are meeting him for the first time to discuss the varies options available… Tidy Design hopes this will be the start of a long and profitable working relationship for both parties!
Tuesday 21st July 2009:

Friday 17th July 2009:
The search engine giant Google has reported second quarter earnings of $5.52 billion, representing “an increase of 3% compared to the second quarter of 08.” Googles first quarter of 09 was a massive $5.51 billion, by comparison. So growth was flat quarter over quarter... According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Google’s business has “stabilized” and has seen growth in certain areas in a bad economic climate.
Tuesday 14th July 2009:
Judging by screenshots I have seen today taken by an IE6 user who was watching some videos on YouTube, it appears that this massive Google company will soon be phasing out support for the IE6 browser! Twitter is also showing multiple people confirming this news! It would seem that web developers would rather spend time building websites for newer, better browsers than wasting man hours on IE6!... I will keep you posted!
Thursday 9th July 2009:
Mike is very happy today after launching our very own Tidy Design Portsmouth domain and whois look up tool. It is Jason's birthday tomorrow (Happy Birthday!) so we are having a small get together this evening to show our thanks for his hard work and support with Tidy Design Portsmouth over the last couple of years... It looks like July could be a busy month!

Today Rosie is getting stuck into the online marketing (Search Engine Optimisation) of ISO Certification. Another week almost over and it looks like another weekend in the office for Tidy Design Portsmouth!
Thursday 18th June 2009:
As posted on twitter this morning Tidy Design Portsmouth can not believe we only have 12 days left until the end of June! With this in mind and lots of work to get signed off before the end of 09 second quarter we thought we should post some photos of our trip to South West Wales last weekend.
As you can see above we had great weather and lots of BBQ’s! It was a nice break from the web, computers and business in general however it does feel good to be back and fully re-charged! As Jack Nicolson once said… ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!’ Other news... today we had our Tidy Design Portsmouth advert/link on Yell.com upgraded following an Oscar winning sales pitch from Jennifer at Yell … We even signed up for an advert to be printed in the 2009/10 Yellow Pages Book! With all this doom and gloom across the media we think extra advertising is required!
Thursday 11th June 2009:
This weekend Tidy Design Portsmouth is mixing business with pleasure... Both Rosie and I are driving to South West Wales to meet up with an existing client and then with Swansea Sugar Craft, a company we recently quoted for a website. Work aside we have booked a couple of nights camping and sea kayaking in Pembroke! Lets hope we get back in one piece!
Monday 8th June 2009:
Just a quick message to let everyone know Tidy Design Portsmouth has just joined twitter... Well, twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users updates known as tweets...
Thursday 21st May 2009:
The Hotel Booking Reservation System website goes live! We have been developing a website to help promote our unique booking engine. This site will also act as a support portal for those who have purchased the booking system offering tutorials, faq's, upgrades and more... If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us
Thursday 30th April 2009:
Today we received a great website design and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) testimonial, thank you!:
"Tidy Design Portsmouth started working with High & Dry Manufacturing Ltd (Trading as 'Back Care Beds') approximately two years ago. At the time we had no real website to speak of. We thought it was a good website until we saw Mikes design concept and realised it was a different class. We had been fleeced out of a few hundred pounds by telephone sales web site companies that produced template sites that we supplied content for.
Search Engine Optimisation - We paid for pay per click £15 per day for people to browse our website then the money was used up and we were off by breakfast time. Since Tidy Design Portsmouth started to do our search engine optimisation we have been within sniffing distance of page 1 of Google and on page 1 a few times for the keywords 'adjustable bed'... We are however now on the first page of Google for the keywords 'nursing bed(s)' medical bed(s)' 'profiling bed(s)' and more...
We have been continually number 1 spot on MSN, Yahoo etc for the search term 'adjustable bed' without paying 'pay per click', through seo Tidy Design Portsmouth are generating approximately 1300 genuine new visits to our website per month. With the quality of our website and a cool feature 'build-a-bed' we have started selling adjustable beds throughout the UK and making very good money from it.
Thanks Mike - keep it up.
Cheers, John."
